Euro 2008

I'm very excited to see how the matches has been going. Austria and Switzerland, although lost their first game, surprisingly did well. From the three groups that had played in the last 3 days, only France v. Romania that ended in a draw. It goes to show that attacking football is on and we all love attacking football.

Der Panzer, who is on the Group B, win 2-0 against their bitter rival, Poland. Both goals, ironically created by Poland's own Lukas Podolski. Poldi, as he is called by the media, was actually spotted by the Polish media when he was younger, but his chance to be in the national team was rejected by then Polish Manager, Pawel Jenas. Thankfully, the German national team coach, Rudi Völler admitted him to the national team where he goes on to shine to victory. Eleven goals in eleven European Championship matches. Now the German team incredibly shown great talent and chemistry in the match against Poland. I haven't seen passes so beautifully done in a while and their teamwork is without no result.

Come Group C, or as it is being called the Group of death while it consist of Italy (World Champion defender), France, Holland and Romania. Fortunately, the French weren't able to net a goal so Romania has a chance to go on further. But the real drama was the match between Holland v. Italy. Both team managers were former "students" of Arrigo Sacchi's AC Milan. Van Basten led the Holland team (and reportedly not getting any pay for this stressful job) while Roberto Donadoni succeeded the World Champion defender from Marcello Lippi. The italians have the upper hand, naturally, from their last championship title, as oppose to Holland who hadn't won anything lately. But crazy enough, and it's probably to early to say this, but TOTAL VOETBALL is back. They crushed the Azzuri to a 3-0 victory and their defense is brilliant. This is the Holland football that people came to love and I do hope that they will keep their game up.

So, I'll come back for Group D.. My dearest stud-muffin will hopefully be fit tonight to play against Russia. I never think that Spain is good as a team although they have extraordinary individual players, but other think otherwise as they're rooting for Spain to win the Cup. I'm guessing it will be a tough match, as you can never underestimate Guus Hiddink ability to manage his team (ie South Korea-WC 2002, Australia-WC 2006). Go Russia!

But the most entertaining part of watching the matches in the wee hours of the morning for me as a female supporter are of course those sweaty men running around the football field for 90 minutes and when the fat lady sings, take their top off and show the world the impeccable six pack ♥♥♥. Oh yes, life is fair after all.. ☺

I'll post my own version of these Cosmo men in the next posting. But until then, enjoy EURO 2008!! And say no to racism!!
