Food for the Soul

I L O V E F O O D period. And I blame this addiction on my father. Well okay, food and football craze, I blame those on my father. Having no son had drove my dad to think that he'd better inherit his love of food and football and pass it on to his daughters. Nope, we're not gonna inherit wealth and fortune or some kind of estate, just this I'm afraid. So there we were, my sister was probably 8 yrs old and I was 6, holding our dad's hand, trying to find our seat at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium at a Galatama football match.

And a few years later, I remember screaming and yelling watching a Liverpool match. Always rooting for Ian Rush and John Beardsley. We just had some new private television broadcasting that aired the Premiership league. Ah, the gloriuos old days...

Then there's eating. Okay, my dad is a bit fanatic about eating and if he'd found his fave meal, he would keep visiting that same place for that very specific meal. We were on a Java tour a few years back and were in a small city called Sumedang which is famous for its fried tofu. They have literally hundreds of fried tofu kiosk and the taste perhaps varied from one place to the other, but my dad insisted that we should only try the kiosk that he had been in 30 years ago!!! And it really took us about a half an hour to finally locate this kiosk.

Eventhough I hate to admit it, I do believe I inherited this specific fanaticism, whatever you want to call it. Some people wouldn't give a damn where they eat but I, I turned out exactly like my dad. I don't care about how big the portion of the meal.. I only care on whether or not the meal is delicious or not, and if it was, I will keep getting back there. The positive side to this is ofcourse, the people that served you, will remember you and will always treat you as royals ;p Heck, they even let you pay later if you're short of cash!

Some people eat when they're sad, some eat when they're happy. I eat when I'm sad and happy. Food help to heal your wounds I believe, but it doesn't help with your diet, naturally. There's an old saying, "When in doubt, e a t!". You can bet that I am always in doubt! So here is my list of fave food. Mind you, I love too many to mention here, but here some that are available in restaurants. It will keep changing, but it might come handy if you want to try it out.
